Artist Portrait // Jens Jakob Madsen (DK)

I am always very grateful when I am invited into the world of another artist and may work without compromises and get up close and real with people, and thankfully this cooperation started a new spin-off series of my own.

Let me show you some of the CI I did for the danish artist Jens Jakob aka. Tækno Jens who also operates under the synonym Slambert.

Jens and I studied together in Aalborg at the Royal conservatory of Music. One day he asked me if I could imagine taking his portrait and the next day, I showed up with my camera. Jens is born in northern Jutland at the stormy west coast, where the big waves of green water hits the danish coastline in a somewhat unpredictable and rough way. In the summer -the days are long and the nature seems endlessly wild and full of opportunities. In the winter, it is a tough and at times unpleasant landscape.

Jens knows all about light and darkness and it can bee seen in his eyes and heard in his music. Jens moved to Aalborg from his homeland in a small village to study electronic music, and is currently continuing his journey in Aarhus. I considered to take him out there - where he comes from. However, his music has in the past years also been influenced by the city life in the upper north of Denmark. Therefor it felt meaningful catching his portraits in a space where he was at the moment. The rough concrete walls of the conservatory layers a nice contrast to his personality and shows him completely unfiltered. In his own raw, authentic and pure beautiful way.
